Deployed nationwide, utilizes document library with over 25,000 forms of ID
Labeled as Credential Authentication Technology (CAT) units, the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) has adopted new ID scanners to be used at their security checkpoints in an effort to verify whether a traveler’s ID is expired or authentic.
The CAT scanner detects small discrepancies that TSA officers can’t see with the naked eye by comparing the scanned image to a document library with over 25,000 forms of identification.
Each scan takes about 8-12 seconds. One example is a TSA officer missing a fraudulent ID which looks like an authentic Georgia driver’s license but scans as a Connecticut driver’s license.
CAT scanners are also linked electronically to the Secure Flight database, which lets the TSA officer know of the traveler’s flight details, ensuring that their flight ticket is scheduled for that day.
CAT scanners also note the type of screening a traveler is eligible for, such as TSA PreCheck – this is all done without even checking the boarding pass first.
CAT units are mounted on mobile desk carts and are able to be moved around among checkpoints as needed. Currently, 25 CAT scanners have been deployed to Boston Logan International Airport and 6 have been deployed to Sacramento International Airport. The TSA has announced that by the end of February 2020 more than 500 CAT units will be deployed at more than 40 airports nationwide.
CAT scanners cost $27,000 per unit.
Like the CAT scanners the TSA has implemented into their security, our fake ID scanner IDentiFake utilizes the very same M500 scanner along with the document library with real forms of identification to compare to. While the TSA’s scanner setup costs $27,000 in total, the IDentiFake system costs a fraction of that!
IDentiFake is utilized by casinos, bars, restaurants, dispensaries, and many more industries looking to put a stop to fake IDs. Performing over 50 forensic checks and comparing scanned IDs to a library of authentic documents and IDs, IDentiFake is the best solution to detecting and stopping fakes for your business.
